Let me begin by saying that if you are in
the market for an all metal, quiet gas submachine gun, with semi auto, you
might as well keep looking. However, if you don't mind some plastic, and a
whole lot of noise, this is a very sweet airsoft.
Realism
Unfortunately, not
much in the feel department. This gun is mostly plastic, and if that
isn't enough to ruin your day, the fact that the clips say MARUZEN M11 on
the bottom is. In the looks department, it is actually quite accurate. The
trademarks are wrong, but the look, dimensions, and overall appearance of
the gun is dead on.
Functionality
This gun is a gas blow back with
some serious kick, and some serious noise. The bolt blowing forward and
back is enough to lay heads down from clear across the field. Even with
the homemade silencer (see the Upgrades\Technical section) the gun still
makes some crazy noise. If you can look past the fact that one shot gives
your position instantly away, you will quickly see that the gun is
surprisingly accurate for such a short barrel, and has a bit of range to
boot.
Usability
I have personally carried this
weapon into combat, and was very pleased with the results. The gun, while
made of plastic, is very durable, and easy to carry. At the time I used
this gun, the silencer had not yet been crafted, so the gun was even
easier to transport. The cocking mechanism is very easy to use, the top
middle sight pulls pack to lock the bolt, and after, ONLY after it has
been cocked, the mag slides in easily, and the gun will relinquish it's
grasp on 50 BB's shortly. Slamming the mag with the bolt closed can
seriously damage the bolt mechanism.
The gun fires reliably aside from
one problem I will address later in this review. Each shot is consistent,
and despite the lack of semi auto, gas is used efficiently. I can get 2 to
2 1\2 clips of BB's per fill depending on the weather, etc.
GBB Submachine Gun Mag Problems
As with almost all GBB SMG's, the
Micro Uzi suffers horribly from mis-loaded BB's. When loading the
magazine, you must ensure that each BB is properly seated in the double
stack pattern. A missed BB will cause the bolt to stay forward or misfire,
requiring you to re-cock the gun, sometimes even drop the mag and reinsert
it.
Also to be noted, I have 3 mags for
this gun, and each mag suffers from the same problem. If the spring on the
mag is not WELL oiled, it will not feed the last 10-15 bb's correctly,
resulting in inconsistent spotty fire during the end of the mag. This can
however be easily fixed with some oil or grease.
Silencer
The silencer on the uzi is
homemade, and if you want the details on it, they will be posted shortly
in the tech\upgrades section.
IMO Opinions
The Maruzen Micro Uzi is a very
competent, useful gun to take to a skirmish. I will carry it into every
situation I enter in the future. I do not recommend this gun as a primary,
unless you are in a GBB war only, in which case this could be a very good
choice. However, as a emergency backup, or when you just need a gun in
each hand, this is a great choice. Upon some research and real life
testing, with the right gas, this gun will actually out fire the MAC 11.
If you are considering buying this gun, also check out the
reviews on the MAC 11, and the Steyr TMP.
