The in house review of this gun was done by
Infinity. The narrative at the bottom is by Wraith, the proud owner of the TMP in the pictures.
Realism
Well, being as how I had never
heard of a TMP before I got into airsoft, I'll just lie and tell you that
this gun is very accurate to the real steel (hehe). No seriously, I do not
know. The pictures of the real steel and the pictures are hard to
distinguish, that much is clear. As for actual realism, I cannot atest to
it's lack of or ton of realism.
Functionality
Wow. This is the first word that
pops into my mind when I think about the TMP. Wraith, a team member for
Team Airsoft refers to this as his " Triple H" (Hand Held
Howitzer). His description is for the most part correct. Aside from some
rather annoying problems that this gun has, it is very functional on the
target range and on the field.
Effectiveness On the Field
There are honestly not too many
guns that drop heads in airsoft. The few I can think of are Florida Airsoft's AT4 (Which I had shot at me at OSC:II) and the 60's, and the
TMP. This gun lets everyone within earshot know EXACTLY where you are, but
it backs up it's voice with a bite. This gun has the best accuracy of any
gas SMG I have used to date. Even in full auto with hard kick, the gun can
be used to shoot through cracks, hit fingers, etc. As stated before, the
gun is insanely loud, and each shot rewards you with probably the loudest
crack you will ever hear from a gas gun. This gun could easily be a
primary weapon, with some backup clips. The gun is surprisingly efficient
with gas as well. Now, I don't mean SV Infinity efficient, but you can get
two clips of BB's from one fill.
Problems
Ok, if you love this gun so far,
don't read this. This gun has some serious issues. First of all, you will
need to carry a small Allen key with you everywhere you go, due to the
fact that the gun catches BB's in the bolt porting after continuous semi
shooting. This happens a lot, and you have to be prepared. This involves
dropping the clip, prying out the BB and starting over. Also, I know
personally of two TMP's that were broken (snapped bolt) because someone
slammed the clip in with the bolt cover forward. THE COVER MUST BE BACK
BEFORE INSERTING THE MAGAZINE. Did that get it in your head ? Also, as
with all SMG full auto's, if you do not use the loading tool, or if you do
not perfectly double stack the bb's, the gun will consistently misfire,
and the bolt and cover will stay forward. This gun also has a problem
cocking. Sometimes the gun takes two or three tries to get the bolt to
actually engage.
IMO Opinions
Overall, I highly recommend this
gun, to anyone who is in the market for a gas SMG. If you don't mind the
occasional problem, and incredibly loud firing sound, check this gun out.
However, remeber that at 240$+, the Micro Uzi and Mac 11 offer similar
performance in smaller, cheaper packages. Both the Mac 11 and the Micro
Uzi destroy the TMP in terms of ROF.
